A body was recovered from the Ohio River near the Portland Canal just before 7 a.m. July 30, Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in a statement.
Officers and first responders from the Louisville Fire Department were called to the area on a barge operator’s report of a body found in the river, Ellis said. Officials discovered “the body of what appears to be an adult male deceased in the river.” LMPD’s Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation.
“We will know more after a postmortem examination is completed,” Ellis said.
